How to find your mac address

Open 'System Preferences' (usually found in the Dock) and select Network. Pick a location and specify the interface whose MAC address is desired in the Show: drop down list. For 'Built-in Ethernet', select the Ethernet tab. Read the MAC address labeled 'Ethernet ID

For wireless, select 'Airport' in the Show: dialog. Read the MAC address labeled 'Airport ID:'.

Once you have you have the MAC address, go to index.cfm/page/networkregistration to register your device, and when this is complete, you will have access to the college's wireless network.

You will be prompted to login using your student number and password (normally used to access PCs within the college)

Then you will be required to enter some additional information (course code, department and mycit email address)

Once that information is entered the next step is to enter your MAC address (as shown above) and a description of your laptop and type.

Click Register Network Device.

Login at the prompt using your Student Number and Password.
Important: Login will fail if you have not registered your laptop online.

 Click Submit.

You are on the wireless network, where you can access the internet.

  • Websense will still be applicable (sorry folks) and all actions logged
  • Access to internal college systems will not be possible, however all systems available over the internet can be accessed (exams, timetables, CIT.ie, mycit.ie).
